Hillary Krupa

Hillary Krupa RHN has been practicing holistic nutrition since 2004. Her career has led her through many clinical settings including private practice and supportive cancer care, post-secondary education, professional writing and nutrition program development for various organizations. Her passion lies in clinical practice where the application of nutritional knowledge combined with communication and interpersonal dynamics meet.

Course description

This course provides a holistic, evidence-informed exploration of how nutrition and lifestyle choices can influence overall health and support the body’s natural defenses against cancer. Participants will gain practical knowledge about the relationship between diet, inflammation, immunity, and cancer, while learning how everyday food choices can contribute to long-term wellness.

Throughout the class, Hillary Krupa introduce food groups to be avoided including dairy product and refined sugar. Hillary will teach the current evidence surrounding these foods, discussing both their potential health benefits and considerations for their consumption within an anti-inflammatory, nutrient-rich dietary pattern.

Topics covered include:

  • How dietary and lifestyle factors may influence cancer cell growth and the body’s internal environment.
  • The important role of chronic inflammation and immune function in cancer prevention and supportive care.
  • Foods, phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, and bioactive compounds that have been studied for their potential anti-cancer properties.
  • The nutritional value of colourful fruits and vegetables, particularly berries and cruciferous vegetables, and their rich antioxidant and phytochemical content.
  • The impact of dietary fats, including the differences between healthy unsaturated fats and less beneficial fat sources.
  • Current evidence regarding dairy products, refined sugars, and processed foods, and how these fit into an overall healthy dietary pattern.
  • The role of animal foods, including recommendations for choosing lean, minimally processed protein sources.
  • The benefits of culinary herbs, spices, and teas that contain naturally occurring compounds associated with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
  • Best practices for selecting, storing, preparing, and cooking foods to preserve their nutritional value and maximize beneficial compounds.
  • Foods, beverages, and lifestyle habits that may contribute to inflammation or increase cancer risk, and practical strategies to reduce their impact.

In addition to nutrition, the course also considers lifestyle factors that work alongside diet to support health, including physical activity, stress management, sleep, maintaining a healthy body weight, and limiting alcohol and tobacco exposure.

By the end of this class, participants will have a deeper understanding of the science behind nutrition and cancer, be able to identify foods that support an anti-inflammatory and health-promoting diet, and feel confident incorporating practical, sustainable dietary strategies into their daily lives. The focus is on empowering individuals with realistic, evidence-based recommendations that support overall health, improve dietary quality, and complement medical care where appropriate.

All decisions regarding your health and medical conditions should be thoroughly discussed with your doctor or health care team before any changes are made. No treatment or medication should be modified without the consent and approval of your doctor or healthcare team. The information in this webinar cannot be taken in isolation and needs to be considered as part of a larger conversation around your health. This course does not replace any medical advice from your doctor or medical team.
