Course description

Lindsay’s interest in plants was cultivated in the forests of the Pacific Northwest. During 10 years of work as a naturalist guide, Lindsay gained a deep appreciation for ecology and her clinical practice integrates her respect for the profound nature of connection within our web of life. She has a passion for increasing the availability of safe, effective plant based medicines and teaching people how to make use of plants, including through empowering people to use plants in their daily household life. She is a professional member of the British Columbia Herbalists Association and the Dean of the School of Western Herbal Medicine at Pacific Rim College. She is a happy gardener, yogi, and mother to 2 children.

List of plants that will be covered in the class:
Lemonbalm, Hyssop, Chamomile, Calendula, Lavender, Elder, Ginger, Licorice, Linden and Plantain.

“There was a time when every household had a medicine person, a knowledge keeper of basic remedies to care for the family. These remedies are plants that could be grown or gathered in the back field or forest. Let’s reclaim that knowledge in our homes to care for our loved ones“.

“We have co-evolved with plants and so children naturally accept them as part of their lives. If we encourage that connection from a young age, we set our children up for a lifestyle that promotes wellness and a sense of place and empowerment”.
