Amanda Howe
MSc, Registered Herbal Therapist
Amanda Howe is a renowned herbalist, wildcrafter, and educator with over four decades of experience in plant therapeutics and ethical foraging. As the founder of Black Bear Herbs and a key instructor at Pacific Rim College, Amanda has dedicated her life to fostering a deep, respectful connection between people and plants.
Amanda has practiced in both the UK and Canada, served on the boards of the Canadian Herbalists Association of BC and the Canadian Council of Herbalists Associations (CCHA), and advised Health Canada on natural health products. She trained in England in the early ’80s, became a member of the NIMH, and holds a Masters of Science in Herbal Therapeutics from the University of Wales.
Amanda blends academic expertise with hands-on wisdom. Her passion lies in helping others connect to the healing power of plants—teaching how to grow, harvest, and use herbs with intention and respect.
Amanda teaches four courses within the Community Herbalist Online Certificate Program, covering topics such as herbal first aid, wildcrafting therapeutic herbs, external herbal preparations, and an in-depth exploration of over 50 detailed herbal profiles.
