The Kidneys receive fluids from the Lungs and they also send vaporized fluids up to the Lungs.
The Lungs send Qi down to the Kidneys; the Kidneys respond by ‘receiving’ or ‘grasping’ Qi to hold it down.
If the Kidneys do not receive and hold Qi down, this will escape upwards causing breathlessness.
It sounds like whatever you are looking at is complicating the matter.
