I’ll tell you what I think as long as you don’t pit me against your teacher in class! 😉
I agree with you. This is a case of where a strong emotion that belongs to the Liver has affected the channel, which is pulling the testicles up.
The only thing that would have me thinking about Kidney would be the sore lower back – HOWEVER! – in most case studies there is almost always one symptom in there to try and throw you off. I usually ignore it unless there are 2-3 symptoms that match up. There are no other signs or symptoms (especially the fact that there are none on the tongue or with the pulse) to indicate anything to do with the Kidney.
A sign of chest oppression, without Phlegm, is due to Stagnation of Lung-Qi or Liver-Qi Stagnation. Again, I’d lean more towards the Liver again.
The other ‘odd’ things include: dizziness (could be due to Liver-Qi Stagnation/Liver-Fire), red tongue tip (could be some Liver-Fire being transmitted to Heart-Fire / Mother-Son relationship), and waking 2-3 times in the night (this can be the Liver-Fire again).
So – yah. I’d agree with you.
I’d also like to say that, typically, there should be a healthy class debate when learning case studies like these. It’s a great way to find out how other people think, which really helps you be critical of your own diagnosis.
