Some grocery stores carry both of those roots. I’ve often seen turmeric in little mesh bags, found near ginger in the bigger stores. If you don’t see it at your store, perhaps you could call around to some other specialty stores that carry herbs and spices to see if they carry it.
I used to buy my fresh horseradish from an Asian market and I would get my turmeric from this specialty spice store in Vancouver. I just went to their site and they actually ship their fresh turmeric! Click here for more information about shipping.
Alternatively, you can make the fire cider without dried turmeric powder. The horseradish is optional, you could add a bit of extra ginger or a hot pepper in there instead.
