1.If 95% alcohol tinctures actually need to be diluted is there any point in actually having 95% alcohol?
The point of having this percentage of alcohol is that it allows you to dilute to any percentage. I see it as somewhat of a blank slate, it is very modifiable. Further, for some fresh plants, you need to use the 95%, adding anything lower will make the final tincture too low in alcohol to be preserved or effective.
2.Do I understand correctly that diluting before tincturing has to do with extracting water soluble properties from the plant and diluting after tincturing is simply for making it more tolerable when dosing?
Yes! You got it. Certain constituents need water and others alcohol, and other still oil, etc. By having both water and alcohol during your extraction you’re ensuring a wider range of constituents will be available in your final product.
