Reply To: Herbal gardening
I bought an Elderberry Bush from Russel Nursery for my herb garden. The latin name matched the Elder in our monograph, Sambucus nigra. On the ferry ride home I opened my textbook and noticed the foliage is different in the monogram. I checked the video lesson and it is also different. The plant I bought has lacy black foliage, I’m guessing it has been bred for beauty and possibly has lost its medicinal value. I’m hoping for your input its medicinal value. I’m disappointed this shrub shares the same latin name as well. Any insight appreciated!
