Hi, Liza! Thanks so much! Yes, definitely! I had actually recommended mullein to this friend of mine 15 years ago when I used it to great effect for my own acute lung injury (kerosene burns- long story involving years of performing a fire dance with kerosene in my mouth and an eventual accident). Though I have inevitable scarring in my lungs, I credit my immediate and consistent use of mullein tea with my speedy recovery and return of full lung function. My pulmonologist was amazed that I didn’t end up with chronic asthma 🙂 Anyway, this friend has been taking mullein tea for all these years, particularly during allergy season and loves it. Unfortunately, he doesn’t shop online and, of course, is not leaving his home these days to purchase more. So I’m ordering him some and remembered reading about oat in the Materia Medica. Since the 90s when I began my herbalism studies, I only recommend “food” herbs to others (though I have tried some stronger ones on myself) which is why oat seemed like such a good addition to his tea! I’ll make him a lovely mix with the Verbascum, elder flowers (which I have on-hand) and oat straw and then will send along some thyme-infused honey which I’m now addicted to myself!

Thanks so much!

PS: His physician (who is also his brother-in-law) is a very open-minded sort and always checks any herbs in the PDR herbal guide to be sure there are no contraindications or medication interactions though, like I said, all of my recommendations are strictly on the food side of the spectrum!
