Hello everyone!

It is such a pleasure to read all of your introductions sharing so generously about what brought you here today. While I crave the collective harvesting and processing (both inside and out) that would happen in person if we were to attend on campus, I feel hopeful that we will be able to connect and share in our learning in meaningful ways after reading above. So thank you!

I have been drawn to herbal medicine for a long time but had to do a lot of internal work to let myself be who I am. Looking back I see how obvious this is for me now but that’s the clarity of hindsight. This is a big step for me and it feels daunting and very exciting and on my edge (where all the best learning happens, right?)

I live just outside Whitehorse in the Yukon (shout out to Carolyn who’s also in this course! Maybe we can go on a walk some time). I live simply and I strive to continue to do so. We live in two small dry cabins on a little lake with our two pups, a few chickens (more on the way!) and a growing garden. I spend most of my time in the summer months wild harvesting and drying herbs as well as making acetas. Most of the medicine I take regularly I made myself – both for general well being and for pain, inflammation, stress and fatigue. I have dabbled in sharing these medicines with friends and my community and am interested in deepening my learning to share with more confidence and to build my practice. I am not entirely sure what it will evolve into but I know this is a part of it!

After a severe concussion that changed the course of my life 4 years ago, I am now getting into the next phase of recovery – what comes next? It’s an exciting and hopeful time. I feel well and grateful and most at ease and fulfilled when harvesting and connecting with plants. I am a bit nervous about being on the computer so much and about taking online schooling so, like Justine said, I welcome any tips or tools for how to work and learn in this context.

Here’s to all the learning ahead!

With warmth,

Lis
