Magnesium citrate for bowel regularity is best because it draws water into the intestines and helps stimulate bowel movements. Magnesium bisglycinate is better absorbed and calming but is not primarily used for constipation.
2. Soluble vs insoluble fibre
Soluble fibre forms a gel and can bind substances when taken as a supplement, which is why fibre supplements are often spaced away from medications or supplements. This does not apply to whole foods like oats eaten with protein—these are appropriate and beneficial.
