You got it! Alcohol preparations are best kept in a closed container to reduce evaporation of alcohol (and in this situation with fresh yarrow it will also keep any aromatic components in). With oil infusions you do not want water in the final product as this will cause rancidity. Leaving the lid off with just cheesecloth or muslin over it, allows for evaporation of some of the water during maceration.
