Hello, I’m trying to understand the different extraction methods for fresh plant material. Amanda suggests leaving the lid open with cheesecloth for calendula oil extraction, while Serafina closes the lid for fresh yarrow tincture. Is this difference due to the menstruum used? Specifically, does alcohol require a closed lid to prevent evaporation and spoilage will not happen due to the alcohol, while oil extraction necessitates an open lid with cheesecloth to allow water evaporation and prevent the oil from spoiling?
