Hi Debbie-lee,

Great question. In order to become a registered clinical herbalist in Canada, you would need to apply through a local provincial herbalist association-which are all part of the Canadian Council of Herbalist Associations. One could also apply through the American Herbalist Association or the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (in the UK).

Each one of these associations hav their own criteria that needs to be met in order to become a herbalist. How you meet this criteria can be varied. Pacific Rim College has a Diploma of Phytotherapy that provides enough classes and clinical practicum hours to apply for most herbalist associations. Otherwise you can piece the class hours together through various colleges and find a mentor to gain your clinical pracitum hours.
