My name is Vanessa and I am a Métis woman who lives on The ancestral lands of The Matsqui, Kwantlen, Katzie and Semiahmoo First Nations. I am a Support worker helping people with addictions as well as people with mental health challenges and disabilities. For as long as I can remember I have been told stories about my great grandma who used plants as medicine for the family. She was told she was not allowed to by The Catholic Church as it was labelled as witchcraft. I have used plants in my recovery from Alcohol abuse especially for the last 5 years. Learning about plant medicine has helped me recover immensely. After losing my husband to a tragic accident and becoming a young widow who is now a solo parent for our young son I have been motivated to live a happier healthy life. I make my own teas from home for myself customized to help with anxiety and depression the most. Plants and Herbs have honestly saved my life. I am so honored to be a part of this community with you all and look forward to learning and connecting with you all!
