Gillian Marsollier | RAc

Gillian Marsollier has been a Registered Acupuncturist in British Columbia since 2001, and an instructor of acupuncture for 20+ years. After completing a 4-year Masters Program in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, she began her teaching career in Newfoundland. There she wrote the bulk of the curriculum for a 3-year acupuncture program and served as the Acupuncture Program Director. Gillian was then transferred to Halifax, where she successfully gained approval by the Board of Education in Nova Scotia for an acupuncture program. In addition to teaching, she practiced at a very successful multi-faceted alternative treatment centre while residing on the East Coast. In 2008 Gillian went to Nepal to teach acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities at a medical facility. They are still using the modalities to this day to treat the locals from the Himalayan hills. For the last 5 years, Gillian has been pursuing the media side of acupuncture and natural healing through the creation of LIFT Education Academy. Through this online education platform, she has created many popular courses including bootcamps that have become the national gold standard for preparation for TCM registration exams.

Course description

This course introduces you to the energetic medical model through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). You will come to understand and appreciate the differences between the allopathic and energetic medical models and the importance of each. In addition, this course covers energetic constitutions, energetic patterns of balance and imbalance, and how to use foods to balance and restore health and vitality.

At the end of this course, you will watch a complete client consultation where the instructor conducts an informal intake and assessment and offers personalized nutritional recommendations.

By the end of this course, you will feel confident in assessing constitutions and tendencies and in incorporating the concept of energetics into your Holistic Nutrition pursuits.

Upon completion of this course, you will have the ability to:

  • Understand general concepts of energetic medicine vs. allopathic medicine.
  • Comprehend individual vs. seasonal eating.
  • Understand the basic foundations of TCM, including the five elements.
  • Understand the idea of looking at the whole picture, and not making decisions based on one sign or symptom (the body is in continual dynamic flux).
  • Be able to assess which of the five elements a person may lean towards and general ways to re-balance.
  • Understand general TCM patterns of imbalance (Qi, Blood, Yin, Yang, Dampness) and the foods to help correct.
  • Create healthy relationships to food and one’s body throughout the lifespan.
  • Read the outside of the body, region by region, to put together a general energetic health picture.
  • Put it all together, and know how to conduct consultations using TCM and five element assessment techniques.
